Description
I painted this piece during my high school art class, spending nearly 65 hours bringing it to life. The prompt was “expressionism”. I had to paint something that expressed a personal emotional experience of mine. I chose this image because of my attachment to Imam Hussain (as).
Although I faintly remember the last time I touched this dhari, my heart yearned to be in its presence again. This painting was made in anticipation for experiencing this exact moment. Every stroke I made, I was closer upon my trip to my Imam(as).
Upon going for ziyarat- I realized that Karbala is a land where all my worries vanish, a land where I only see myself and my master, a land where I can cry my heart out, a land where I am reminded of my true purpose in this dunya, a land that I am utterly incomplete without.
