Description
A Silkscreen print inspired by Ziyarat Arbaeen:
فَمَعَكُمْ مَعَكُمْ لَا مَعَ عَدُوَّكُمْ
“So I am with you, I am with you, not with your enemies.”
I first sat with these words years ago in Karbala, during Arbaeen, and they stayed with me long after I left. I realized that these very lines summarize everything. They are a pledge that we make to our Imam, and bring back home with us.
My thoughts, my actions, My God centric worldview, through it all - I pledge that I am with you oh Imam. And I am not with your enemies - my habits, my actions, shouldn’t resemble those of your killers. My stance in this world is against your enemies today, whether they be people, institutions or ideologies.
Fun fact: The design and color palette pull from the tilework inside Imam Husayn’s (as) haram, the blues and yellows that cover the shrine walls and the geometry repeated across every panel.
